DeKalb Co., GA Seeks A Chief Financial Officer / CFO

(Salary up to $185,000+ DOQ/E + Excellent Benefits)

DeKalb County is Georgia’s third largest county with approximately 700,000 residents. The county covers approximately 271 square miles, consisting of a portion of Atlanta, Decatur, and many other communities.  DeKalb County is one of the most culturally diverse communities in America and home to a significant number of prominent businesses and cherished institutions, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Emory University, and the American Cancer Society, to name a few.

 

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is appointed by and has a dual reporting responsibility to the CEO and the Board of Commissioners (BOC). The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the County’s top elected official.  The County’s Tax Fund Budget is approximately $607 million, with a total annual budget of over $1.27 billion, not including capital appropriations.

 

The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) oversees the Finance Department and a budget of approximately $18.2M, and a staff of 155 that includes an Assistant Director of Finance and four Deputy Directors. The CFO advises the CEO and BOC on fiscal affairs.  The Finance Department consists of the following functions: Grants and Capital Management, Treasury, Accounting Services, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Business Licensing and Auditing, Risk Management and Employee Benefits.

 

DeKalb County Government offers an opportunity for a proven, highly skilled Chief Financial Officer to serve as the County’s key adviser on all finance matters. This individual will be a member of the CEO’s executive management team.  Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Public Administration, or a related field. A CPA and/or advanced degree are preferred. To be considered, candidates must have at least 12 years of progressively responsible experience in public sector finance, financial management or a related field, including 5 years of senior managerial experience.
